Hey, guys! Back in 2018 p52clicks was just an idea among a group of friends on Instagram. We wanted a way to stay accountable and inspired and hopefully avoid artistic ruts along the way. An idea brewed to create a list of photography themes to follow each week. It was originally meant to be a project between friends, but it somehow bloomed and blossomed into a community that continues to grow.
We've now completed two rounds of this project and are starting our third year. The project looks a bit different this year, though. We've always been based on Facebook and Instagram, but now we've expanded into a more user friendly platform--this blog! Our Facebook and Instagram pages continue to be an active and relevant part of this project, too.
What can you expect in 2020? A lot of the same great things and some new ones.
We will still run the project with the same formula:
One theme a month + weekly posts = 52 images
Focusing on one theme a month versus a new one each week allows us to really dig in and understand the nuances.
We will still have lessons from artists within our community to help you grow along the process. They will host a takeover on our Instagram page for further opportunities to pick their brains and learn all their secrets.
Instead of posting the lessons on our Facebook page, though, you will find them here. They will be grouped together nicely for easier viewing later on in your journey if ever you want to revisit them.
You will still have plenty of feature opportunities. We want to showcase all your hard work! We're all on this journey together and we want to celebrate along with you! Follow along on our Facebook group for weekly photo dumps where we post a call-out for your images. We will pull images from that thread to post in our Highlight Reel here on our blog. Continue to post your images on your Instagram pages with the monthly hashtags (#p52_theme). Our moderators search through the tags when featuring your images on our page.
We will also be starting something new--a monthly artist spotlight! This gives us the chance to learn more about you. One of the artist's images will be the blog cover photo for the month.
Feel free to look around the site. Read more about the project and our team in the About section. Read the FAQs for any questions you might have. And stay tuned for more to come!
We're very excited to see where 2020 takes us!
