Hi and welcome to the first Highlight Reel of 2020! We have been so incredibly blow away by the amount of participation we have seen so far this year. It's truly amazing. There are so many new faces and I am excited to get to know you all this year and see where this project takes you!
In following with P52 tradition, we have kicked off yet another year with low light. I have seen some hesitation with this theme and many questions have been asked and answered. I would really like to take a moment to encourage those struggling. For me, looking back, I can pin point the exact moment my photography really started to take an upturn towards where I am today and that was struggling through low light here 3 years ago. We are all on a journey and I still have a ways to go to get to where I want to be, but I truly believe that this project and specifically this theme was a huge turning point for me. So, please, stick with it. I believe in you and am excited to see what this year brings.
I am thrilled to share the following images with you! Enjoy!
xoxo, Lindsay Craig

Gear: Sony A7iii - 35mm sigma Settings: ISO 640 F2.0 1/250 Post Processing: Edited with SMAL 01
I had to really cool it off as this image is lit by a bedside table lamp on a dim switch. She was about 2ft from the lamp and I used AWB! I added a touch of matte to the image as well. Did minimal adjustments in LR and then color and lighting adjustments in PS. I brought down the highlights to keep them soft, did a hue saturation layer for skin tone and did a levels layer to give it some heavier depth and sharpened!
Gear: Nikon D850, Lensbaby Edge 50
Settings: ISO 320, 1/160
The Shot: Shot close to one of our windows.
Post Processing: Editing with T&O preset, with hand edits.
Gear: Canon 5D mkIII, Canon 16-35mm,
Settings: f4.5, exp 1/2000, ISO 3200.
The Shot: I basically saw a swarm of birds in the parking lot as my girls and I were heading into gymnastics. I had my camera with me because we had just come from taking real estate pics. I told my oldest to run at the birds and they took off! It was basically what I was hoping they would do.
Post Processing: I brought out colors in the sunset a bit more, sharpened and, and cropped out the parking lot portion of the image and added the black upper and bottom canvas to give it a movie look. I also cloned out a couple baseball field lights.
Gear: Canon 70d, 35mm f2,
Settings: iso 2000, 1/60s, f2.5.
The Shot: This was shot on the old cobbled streets of Edinburgh on our way to the theatre to watch the lion king. It was pitch black and the only light was from the old fashioned street lights, so I made sure to get my son under the light so that it just hit the top of his hat. I also lived the curve of all the windows lit up behind him in the old terrace houses and the traditional iron railings. It screams Edinburgh to me.
